The 61st ISI World Statistics Congress (WSC) was held in Marrakech, Morocco from July 16-21, 2017. Many thanks to the organizers, chairs, speakers, discussants, and participants of all ISBIS (co)sponsored sessions, as well as to ISBIS members who participated in all events at the ISI-WSC. We look forward to an even stronger participation in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2019.

Here are some highlights from Marrakech:
- Vijay Nair, a former ISBIS and ISI president, who recently joined Wells Fargo Bank after several years as professor at the University of Michigan, gave an excellent William Sealy Gosset Lecture: An overview of machine learning methods and some applications in business and finance. This very well attended session was organized and discussed by David Banks.
- The ASMBI session speaker was Hongxia Yang, who is Senior Staff Data Scientist and Director in Alibaba’s Data Technology and Product Division. This talk, titled Computational advertisement and its meta analysis in practice was organized by Fabrizio Ruggeri and discussed by David Banks and Quan Lu.
- Several awards were presented to ISBIS members at the ISI General Assembly for the 2016 ISBIS Best Competition Paper for Young Researchers, ISBIS Best Poster, and for Service to ISI.
- Congratulations to ISBIS President-elect Fabrizio Ruggeri, who has been elected as a Vice-President of ISI.
- Congratulations to Rahul Mukerjee, Professor, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta. He was presented the Mahalanobis Award in Marrakech.
